Cycling Without Age

DWP Housing are happy to have contributed a £500 donation to this great cause, Cycling Without Age Bournemouth.

The aim of this project is to establish a network of trishaws to provide elderly and less able people with a ride on a bike and ‘The Right to Wind in their Hair’ experience in Bournemouth under the International network, Cycling Without Age. Getting out and about on a trishaw and meeting people helps to tackle loneliness and isolation which occurs too often when senior citizens become confined to their own homes.

Alongside raising the funding for the trishaws Cycling Without Age are also seeking volunteer pilots, helpers, passengers as well as businesses to spread awareness of our exciting project.

Together we can make a difference and build new relationships within our community.

Cycling Without Age is a movement started in 2012 by Ole Kassow in Denmark. Ole wanted to help the elderly get back on their bicycles, but he had to find a solution due to their limited mobility. The answer was a trishaw and he started offering free bike rides to the local nursing home residents.

Do you have strong legs and feel like giving a bicycle ride through the city, to the forest, the waterfront or even down memory lane – then become a pilot with Cycling Without Age >>
